For the Public

To ensure the public receives the best quality of treatment and care, Massage Australia members are required to abide by the Massage Australia Code of Conduct, which identifies a certain standard of conduct required by all members.

Members are also subject to the NSW Health, Code of Conduct for Unregistered Health Practitioners. Complaints about unregistered health practitioners (Massage Therapists) can be made to the Health Care Complaints Commission.

What to Know as a Client

  • Is the massage practitioner registered with a professional organisation
  • If you have private health cover for massage/remedial massage therapy, you should inform the massage practitioner when booking your appointment, as not all practitioners are registered providers with all funds.
  • If you are provided with a receipt to claim your health fund rebate, make sure the name of the practitioner is the practitioner that provided the treatment. If not, inform your health fund directly.

For other areas of concern please refer to the Massage Australia Code of Conduct for information.
